"The Making Of"

Over the last couple of years we have developed this “The Making Of” documentary style promo video. The video will be based around the upcoming album and often uses parts of different tracks, filmed live in the studio, combined with footage of the process of making the music happen. Furthermore we often include interviews, where the artist gets the option of telling the viewers about their thoughts and ideas about the project.

Concert

As it is possible to play a concert at The Village Recording, we decided to offer video to go along with it. In this scenario cameras would be carefully placed, to catch everything going on, on stage. As well as statically placed cameras, a handheld, high end movie production camera will manually film the concert focused on one musician at a time. We discovered quickly that it was important to be able to film longer concerts as well. We therefore made it possible to produce concert footage up to 2 hours.

Music Video

The “live in studio” look has its charm, but sometimes a more polished look can be what you’re after. In that case we can make it happen. A music video would typically be filmed in a more cinematic way. When possible to film in a more controlled setting options to play with the lighting, super slow motion or go to different locations becomes a possibility. It’s all about telling your story.

Performance

This solution is designed specifically to be super efficient. With the option to have a full take performance video, you have the opportunity to have the track that made the album, captured on video. Cameras will be placed in the different iso booths, to catch every move of the musicians. A handheld camera will be filming from a convenient position to give a more natural and cinematic feel. You decide which track you want filmed, and you can do as many takes as you would like. In the end it’s totally up to you which one you want at the end.

A different look is achieved when filming in one room. However that is also a sonic decision that should be made between the studio engineer, and the artist.

Photos

From the get go, it was very important to us, to find the most efficient way to get photos taken while recording. A great studio photograph is from our point of view, ones where nothing is disturbed. The goal was therefore to be as invisible, as possible while music is recorded. We therefore invested in a camera with a silent shutter, so that it’s possible to walk around and take pictures, while the recordings are taken place.

We decided to opt for the noncommittal approach whereby no fee is charged until after you’ve had a look at the results. Therefore it’s completely up to you whether you would like to buy the pictures or not. Just let us know which day you would like them taken in advance.

A selection of the best pictures will be edited, and then sent to your email after your session after your session. From there you can look at them, and decide whether you would like to acquire any of them. The ones you do decide to buy, will then be carefully edited to your liking – included in the price.
